Summer Thirst

One of my favourite things about summer is the total appropriateness of a few cheeky day time drinks...especially when you can have a cold beer or wine in such beautiful places! While we were on holiday, we paid a visit to the Mussel Inn in Onekaka, Golden Bay, and Wither Hills vineyard in Marlborough with Andrew's family. The Mussel Inn brew their own beer, and the most refreshing feijoa cider! The brewery is perched on top of a hill seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but it was totally packed, as it is apparently at all times during the summer! We were visited by two very fat Kereru (Endangered native New Zealand wood pigeons), who must frequent the busy brewery, as they even made a feature on their stained glass windows!
Wither Hills is a very classy vineyard and it was actually our first experience of wine tasting!...something I could definitely do more of! We got to sip on our beautiful wine whilst looking out over the never ending rows of grape vines. My favourites were their sauvignon blanc's. We wished we had more time to explore the dozens of other wineries of Marlborough, something we plan on doing in the near future!

  5. Yes! Like how having a cider or a beer with lunch becomes totally acceptable. Best thing. I also think that in winter, the evenings allow for a glass of red wine or.. baileys in your coffee (always a good idea).

Looks and sounds like you had an amazing time - I need to get onto the vineyard buzz, seems a shame when they aren't that far away!

    1. Haha yes it can really creep into any time of the day! I haven't tried baileys in my coffee yet! I DID however have a baileys slushy at the Picton Irish pub on this trip and that blew my socks right off! xox
