Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market

Untitled Untitled Untitled UntitledUntitled Untitled Untitled UntitledUntitled Untitled UntitledUntitled Untitled Untitled Untitled UntitledUntitled UntitledUntitled Untitled UntitledHello lovelies! You've probably noticed my absence from the blog in the past 2 months which is very unlike me!... So thank you so much for hanging in there for the next post! Life has recently been a crazy, crazy whirlwind of challenges that usually don't all happen at once! (thesis, placement, hospital visits, crappy health, work, and general all round exhaustion!) -To say I have been absolutely drained doesn't even begin to cover it! -but thats for another post.

Right now I want to focus on something much more exciting. In a very last minute decision Andrew and I headed to Melbourne for a few weeks to stay with family (which you might have picked up on if you follow me on instagram). It was a much needed escape from the craziness of life at the moment for me!
I have fallen so in love with Melbourne on my second ever visit there. I had so many little urban adventures which I'm dying to share with you!
One of the top things on my "Melbourne to-do-list" was the Queen Victoria food markets. It was such a feast for the senses! Every hard to find ingredient I have ever wanted to cook with (but could never find!) was all under the one roof. As I am a vegetarian that cooks for one- I loved that you could easily buy small enough quantities of delicious, fresh food catering for one person. I had so much fun strolling around all of the stalls gathering fresh ingredients for our dinner that night (which was this butternut pumpkin and feta lasagne if you're interested!)
It was a street photographers dream full of bright colours, interesting people and even pets to photograph! As a present to myself for working so hard, I bought a new Canon EFS 50mm 1.8mm lens ...and these are the results of my first expedition with it! I still have a lot of getting used to using the lens, and some tutorials to google, but what do you think of my first attempt?
I promise there will be no more 2 month gaps between posts from now on! So keep your eyes peeled for some more Melbourne adventures over the next week...and once again thank you all so much for waiting for me to reappear again...so glad to be back posting to you! xox

  5. I love markets like that. Every time I'm in a new city I'm on the lookout. My favorite so far is the mercat de la boqueria in Barcelona, so much food and everything is fresh and smells SO good. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures!
